Are the Average Iraqis resentful towards the US ?.
Before the Americans, the British had the misfortune of not being able to understand what is the real Iraqis opinion of them ; Iraqis of all walks life expressed anti British sentiments ever since the British set foot in Iraq on the 6th of November 1914 .Yet when any of the Iraqis get chronically ill he will ask to go to London or if he goes to the market and can afford the price he will ask for an English suit or cloth and insist on an English leather shoe . Nonintellectual Iraqis call the English Abo Naji as though one of their own and anything complicated around the world, they would say either Abo Naji was behind it or leave it to Abo NaJi to deal with .
As the US almost inherited the British Empire around the world in the 50s and 60s of the last century , the Iraqis were also after getting the highly valued quality of US products and services which they rank now beside the the British products and services .
Now without talking about sentiments of who resent who or who loves who and without apportioning the blame between the Iraqis on the one hand and the British and Americans on the other hand for the miserable misunderstandings between them that resulted in disasters particularly for the Iraqi people ; I would say that ; if Abo Naji’s politicians at the time understood that they had a bloody voluntary captive market for British products and services they would’ve done more than they did in preventing Iraq from slipping into Coup Datas starting in 1958 which destroyed Iraqi and British efforts over 40 years in building a constitutional government with sound economic development plans .
Similarly; if Uncle Sam’s politicians understood that they had a vast and rich bloody voluntary captive market in Iraq they would’ve planned the aftermath of the 2003 invasion with the best talents the US had to guard that US interest . They also should’ve used the best and plentiful Iraqi and US talents to see to it , that the hopes of the Iraqi peoples shown in that initial welcome of US troops (I was an eye witness )are not rudely shattered by relying on unrealistic pure market American ideologists and phony Iraqi Mosque and cafeteria inhabitant revolutionaries from Iran, Syria, the UK and the USA
